ROLE SUMMARY

We seek a highly-skilled and customer-focused NetApp Storage Management Consultant to join our team. This individual will be responsible for supporting NetApp storage solutions for our customer.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in NetApp storage technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in both a remote and in-person environment. A strong background and experience with NetApp’s core technologies, ONTAPautomation, and excellent clear communication skills are required to be successful in this role.

Location: Chapel Hill, NC (75% Remote / 25% onsite (onsite 1 to 2 days a week).
Duration: 3-month remote resident (with potential to up to 6 months)

AS A NETAPP STORAGE ENGINEER, YOU CAN EXPECT TO HAVE THESE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, deploy, test and maintain NetApp storage solutions based on client requirements and best practices
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business objectives, technical requirements, and existing IT infrastructure
  • Perform storage capacity planning, performance monitoring, and optimization to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization
  • Configure and manage storage protocols such as NFS, CIFS, iSCSI, and Fibre Channel
  • Proficient in Data ONTAP and NetApp technologies including SnapMirror, SnapVault, SnapManager, etc.
  • Experience in block storage
  • Implement data protection and disaster recovery solutions, including backup and replication technologies
  • Troubleshoot storage-related issues and provide timely resolution to minimize downtime and disruptions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate NetApp storage solutions with other IT infrastructure components
  • Provide input and develop documentation for standard operating procedures (SOP)s that result in repeatable processes for installation, setup, and operations of the customer’s data storage environment
  • Follow ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) practices for change management
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, trends, and innovations in the storage industry, particularly related to NetApp products and solutions
  • Experience in a fast-paced, time-sensitive, high-quality environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with strong customer service
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize commitments, and manage time effectively including attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other engineers and senior managers in a team environment sharing best practices, meet aggressive goals, and meet high-quality standards
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications like Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint
  • Experienced in the principles, methods, and techniques used in network administration and support
  • Experienced in routers, switches, patch panels, concentrators, associated terminals, and related network hardware and software

TO BE SUCCESSFUL, YOU’LL NEED EXPERIENCE SUCH AS:

  • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting NetApp storage solutions, Ontap and Block skills
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., RestAPI, PowerShell, Python) for automation and task orchestration
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is preferred
  • NetApp certification (e.g., NetApp Certified Data Administrator, NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer, NetApp Certified Technology Solutions Professional) preferred
  • Experience with testing and documentation
  • Strong knowledge of storage concepts and technologies, including RAID, SAN, NAS, and storage virtualization
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients and team members
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Experience with NetApp storage management tools such as OnCommand System Manager and OnCommand Unified Manager – a plus
