SUMMARY

The Level 1 Machinists/Operators (Second Shift: 3:00pm – 6:00am) work under direct supervision to operate 2-5 axis CNC/Automated mill and lathe machine tools, producing intricate aerospace parts. They conduct in-process inspections, perform basic shop math, utilize hand measuring tools, and maintain documentation. Additionally, they handle deburring operations and basic machine maintenance tasks. This role typically requires 0-2 years of experience.

SWISS MACHINISTS AT TSP TYPICALLY HAVE THE FOLLOWING JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and operate machines such as lathes, milling machines, and electrical discharge machines (EDM) to produce parts according to specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders
  • Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications
  • Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as necessary
  • Load/unload parts using provided work holding methods
  • Replace broken cutting tools/inserts
  • Perform deburring tasks as necessary
  • Complete work order documentation adhering to AS9100 quality standards
  • Troubleshoot issues with machines and make repairs as needed
  • Maintain equipment by performing routine light maintenance tasks
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize production processes

THE IDEAL PERSON FOR FILL THIS ROLE WILL HAVE EXPERIENCE SUCH AS:

  • Previous experience as a Machinist or in a similar role
  • Proficiency in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Familiarity with CNC machining methods and basic computer use
  • Familiarity in operating power tools, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments
  • Physical ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds and work near heavy machinery
  • Minimum 1-year experience in the industry or related field preferred
  • High school diploma/GED equivalent required, with preference for certification in CNC operations
