Christmas Comes Early at Readers 2 Leaders

Time and time again, Norma Nelson took stock of the computers and chairs in the Computer Lab at Readers 2 Leaders reading instruction school and knew some changes desperately needed to be made. The computers were outdated, the software was slow and the chairs were falling apart. And those three components at the West Dallas school made the lab less conducive to learning. So Nelson applied for a grant from the Mavs Foundation – the foundation arm of the Dallas Mavericks. And the next thing she knew, the Mavs equipped Readers 2 Leaders with a new Reading & Learning Center, a separate Computer Lab, 15 brand new computers, chairs and computer desks.

(DALLAS) August 10, 2017TSP (Technology Service Professionals), a privately held IT services company, announces their #TSProckstars will be participating in the 2017 City of Richardson Corporate Challenge for the second consecutive year.

The Corporate Challenge promotes, enables and supports values such as teamwork, company pride and workplace wellness – all through healthy competition. “We had so much fun participating in last year’s Corporate Challenge and are excited to do so again this year,” said Frank Gonzalez, co-founder and CEO, TSP. “This event is a great way to raise money for a worthy cause and we always enjoy seeing our employees band together to do good.”

The City of Richardson Corporate Challenge has contributed more than $2 million to Special Olympics Texas since 1998. In honor of raising money for this cause, each participating team is assigned a Special Olympian who is invited to attend all company events.

“There is nothing more rewarding than seeing our people live out our values and the Corporate Challenge is one event everyone loves,” said Rick Skaggs, co-founder and president, TSP. “Not only does it raise funds for the Special Olympics, but it is also a great way to build comradery between employees and other companies in our community.”

TSP will be competing in Division C along with seven other DFW-area companies consisting of 349 employees and fewer. Last year, TSP took home the Superior Sportsmanship award and the Spirit award in their first year of participation.

TSP Continues Supporting Philanthropy Nationwide

(DALLAS) August 2, 2017TSP (Technology Service Professionals), a privately held IT services company, continues to support charities across the nation, sponsoring and participating in many charitable events thus far in 2017. Of the six events, four were requests that came directly from TSP employees.

“As part of our company vision, we are always looking for ways to get involved in our community,” said Frank Gonzalez, co-founder and CEO, TSP. “As opposed to selecting one corporate charitable event to support each year, we look to our employees to submit charities or causes that are close to their hearts.”

TSP’s involvement the first half of 2017 included the following:

  • In April, a team of #TSProckstars marched to end premature birth and other problems that threaten babies at Dallas’ March of Dimes March for Babies.
  • On April 29, TSP was a Platinum Sponsor for North Texas Christian Academy. The academy is located in McKinney, Texas – a short drive from TSP headquarters.
  • For the second consecutive year, TSP was a Silver Sponsor of Klays for Kids, a shooting tournament sponsored by Log-A-Load for Kids and the Forestry Association of South Carolina.
  • TSP sponsored and participated in Readers 2 Leaders, Lanes 2 Literacy on March 30. The program serves West Dallas students ages three to 12, so that they can succeed in school and graduate to live productive lives.
  • In addition to participating in the May 12 event, TSP was also a Tournament Sponsor of the 8th Annual Carolina Prospects Golf Tournament, organized by the Carolina Prospects Baseball Organization.
  • For the third year, TSP supported the 10th Annual Kansas City Vision Walk, donating to an employee’s daughter participating in the walk. Money raised goes towards funding sight-saving research by the Foundation Fighting Blindness.

“We find it incredibly gratifying to be able to give back to the communities where we live, work and play,” said Rick Skaggs, co-founder and president, TSP. “This is even more special when our employees demonstrate our vision by not only bringing those charities to the company for consideration, but also by donating their own time and resources to support the cause.”

Rick Skaggs, Jesse Paredes and Charles Perez Honored by Department of Defense for Patriotic Support

(DALLAS) June 21, 2017TSP (Technology Service Professionals), a privately held IT services company, announces three employees were presented with a Patriot Award on June 19. Rick Skaggs, president and co-founder; Jesse Paredes, field service manager; and Charles Perez, operations coordinator, received this high honor by Larry Thompson, area #10 chair for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Committee (ESGR), for their support of Guard and Reserve employees.

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Thompson. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”

Skaggs, Paredes and Perez were nominated by First Lieutenant David Logan, an associate storage engineer at TSP.

“I proudly served in the United States Army for 3 years and I would do it all over again if I had the chance,” said Skaggs. “In 1973, I went to basic training as an 18-year-old kid and when I completed my military service with an Honorable Discharge in 1976, I was a man. It was in the Army that I learned responsibility, honor, pride, and hard work. I learned so many life lessons and got to travel all over the world – I will be forever thankful.”

This special award comes on the heels of a pending deployment for Logan. TSP is proud to employ current and former military personnel and is fully committed to providing those employees with the time off they need to fulfill their duties in defense of this great nation.
